Foreword

The concept of ‘work’ has many different meanings and impacts on peoples’ lives. For many, work
is a curse that interferes with other more preferred options. This is particularly true of work
where there is very little discretion over how time is spent. It also tends to be true of types of work without much personal satisfaction. Jobs with repetitive activities are usuaiiy in this category. Many of these types have, or are, disappearing due to technology or a form of automation.
